Itinerary Details
Day 1:Mumbai (Arrival)
Upon arrival in Mumbai, meet the IHPL representative who’ll assist you in smooth transfer to the hotel. We suggest you to go out and explore some sights if you are not fatigued. Stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 2:Mumbai - Ahmedabad
Today, in the morning, board the flight to Ahmedabad. Upon arrival at the Ahmedabad airport, drive to the hotel. Later, leave by road for Utelia, a tiny village built around a medieval palace. Overnight stay at the hotel in Ahmedabad.
Day 3:TheBharwad
The day 3 is scheduled to have trysts with the local Bharwad tribes. Bharwad tribes are generally shepherds and cattleman and their houses are primarily painted in blue, green and white color. Return to the hotel for night stay.
Day 4:A Stepwell & Sun Temple
Today, you will drive to Balaram. The entire day sightseeing is segregated into three parts- a museum, a stepwell and a sun temple. Later, return to the hotel for night stay in Ahmedabad.
Day 5:TheGowala& The Garacia
The day 5 is scheduled with the meeting with the Gowala and Garacia tribe. The lifestyle of both these tribes differs from each other. While Gowala are more settled, the Garacia people are more about wandering types.
Day 6:Patan`sPatola Weavers and The Rani-ki-Vav
The day 6 will give you a brief insight into the art of Patola. It is an intricate form of double ikat weaving. The weaving is so demanding and difficult that a single saree can take up to 6 months. Besides, you will visit the famous Ran kiVav, one of the oldest Bawaris in Gujarat built around the 11th century.
Day 7:The Banjara and The Rabari
Both Rabari and Banjara are the nomadic tribes who depends upon sheep and camels for their livelihood. On the contrary, the Banjara tribes are also known for their latent talent and embroidery skills.
Day 8:Into The Rann of Kutch
Today, you will enter into the austere countryside of Kutch. You’ll be on the vehicle for the whole day with no pre-scheduled stopovers. Unfortunately, this is the time when the Rabari tribe migrates and therefore you may encounter them en-route.
Day 9 to Day 11:A Melting Pot of Tribes
For the next three days, you’ll be meeting with Megwar, Samma, Jat, Mutwa, Ahir and Rabari tribes. You’ll spend your time photographing them and understanding their lifestyle. You will also visit the nearby Bhuj town. Here you will visit the famous and well maintained Bhartiya Folk Museum.
Day 12:Homeward Bound
Today, tourists will fly from Bhuj to Mumbai. Upon arrival in Mumbai, get transferred to the hotel. Later in the evening, drive to the airport for onward journey.
